Srinagar passport officer denies ACB raid at office, says officials sought details of passports | India News - Times of India


SRINAGAR: Regional passport officer B B Nagar on Tuesday denied any raid at his workplace right here by the officers of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday and mentioned the ACB officers had come to investigate about some passports.
Official sources claimed that the ACB had sought info of a number of passport-holders.
“There is full transparency at the Srinagar regional passport workplace. We situation passports after looking for correct character certificates from the police and different companies, as per the requirement,” Nagar mentioned.
“The ACB sought details about some circumstances from us. I mentioned that details will probably be offered to them offered they offer us in black and white,” he said.
However, official sources claimed that the ACB officers took files pertaining to three passports issued from the regional passport office, Srinagar.
The ACB officers took the file of one Afghan-origin woman who has married in Srinagar. She got passport issued twice so far with the first one issued in 2003. The woman had applied for a fresh passport after the earlier one had expired, but the police report was different.
Another was of a person from Anantnag in South Kashmir, who was convicted in the BOPEE, the MBBS admission fraud, and was jailed for several years. He also got a passport and is now in Bangladesh.
The third file pertains to a person from Srinagar who was holding a valid passport, but it was impounded after an FIR was registered against him in a criminal act. He got a fresh passport this year.
