JAMMU: A large fire broke out within the Vaishno Devi shrine complicated — nestled on Trikuta Hills in Reasi district of J&Okay — on Tuesday, through which one constructing was utterly damaged and “some cash and records” have been gutted. Three shrine workers have been trapped within the fire, which began at 4pm and was introduced underneath management by 4.25pm, however have been rescued within the nick of time.
An enormous plume of smoke was seen billowing from the constructing housing the money-counting room, the place the fire began. The fire-fighting squad of the shrine instantly swung into motion after CRPF personnel raised an alarm. The fire is believed to have been triggered by {an electrical} brief-circuit.

Board CEO Ramesh Kumar stated, “There was no loss of life as there is restricted entry to the shrine due to Covid protocols. We are ascertaining loss in terms of currency, but it might not be much as not many pilgrims are being allowed into the shrine per day.” Kumar added that the precise trigger of the fire is but to be ascertained.
Pilgrimage at the shrine had resumed on August 16 after remaining suspended following the Covid-induced lockdown in March 2020.
