A 29-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly strangling his newly-wed spouse to loss of life after a struggle over dowry in south Delhi’s Maidangarhi space, police mentioned.
The accused, Kuldeep Singh Rana, works as an assistant to a contractor, they mentioned.
On Wednesday, Rana and his spouse (25) returned to Delhi from the girl’s parental home at Golapar in Uttarakhand. Later, Rana beat his spouse after consuming alcohol resulting in her loss of life, police mentioned.
The couple acquired married on 26 April this 12 months, police mentioned, including the girl’s physique was discovered mendacity on the mattress in her bed room Thursday morning.
Some bluish marks had been discovered close to the neck and face of the girl and prima facie, it seems that she was strangled to loss of life, a senior police officer mentioned.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur mentioned, “A case of murder has been registered and the accused husband has been arrested in the case.”
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that on Wednesday, the accused beat his wife after consuming alcohol. They allegedly had a fight over dowry-related demands. Though the accused had received the dowry, he wanted the land and property to be registered in his name,” he mentioned.
