Police have arrested 10 individuals for allegedly killing a cow vigilante after he was crushed to dying by a tempo illegally transporting cattle in Gujarat’s Valsad district, officers stated.

According to police, the accused individuals had been a part of an inter-state community whereby cattle from villages in Valsad had been bought and transported illegally to neighbouring Maharashtra, specifically in locations like Bhiwandi, Ahmednagar and Nashik.

The incident happened on Dharampur-Valsad highway early Friday morning when the sufferer, Hardik Kansara (29), a self-styled cow vigilante and native VHP volunteer, tried to cease the cattle-laden automobile, the Valsad police stated in a launch issued on Saturday.

After receiving a tip-off {that a} tempo carrying cattle was on its approach from Barsol village in Valsad’s Dharampur taluka in the direction of Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, Kansar together with two associates and a police crew adopted the automobile.

The sufferer and his associates tried to cease the automobile by blocking a highway. In the method, the tempo ran over Kansara, who died on the spot, the police stated.

The tempo driver fled forsaking his automobile, from which 11 animals had been rescued, the police stated.

An FIR was subsequently lodged at Dungri police station and 10 individuals, together with the tempo proprietor, driver, and others concerned within the unlawful transportation of cattle, had been arrested from totally different locations.

They had been charged underneath Section 304 (culpable murder not amounting to homicide) of the Indian Penal Code, and provisions of the Gujarat Essential Commodities and Cattle (Control) Act and the Motor Vehicles Act, the police stated.
