Two policemen had been suspended in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a transporter, whose automobile was concerned in a highway accident, stated a police official.
A video of the incident, which purportedly exhibits the 2 policemen taking cash from the transporter, was broadly circulated on social media.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Tumgaon Police Station Sharad Tamrakar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vijendra Chandaniha had been suspended on Friday.
Superintendent of Police Prafull Kumar Thakur stated the video footage is of June 15 and a departmental continuing might be initiated in opposition to the officers.
In the video, the policemen duo is seen demanding and counting cash taken from the transporter, the SP stated.
“The incidents that tarnish the image of the police department will not be tolerated,” Mr Thakur was quoted saying by information company PTI.
