The police in Maharashtra’s Thane metropolis have registered a case in opposition to an industrial unit for alleged energy theft of over Rs 24 lakh, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) stated on Tuesday.
During raids on the premises of Indian (*24*) Works at Shivai Nagar, it was discovered that the electrical energy meter had been modified and a distant package was getting used for stealing energy, the division said in a launch.
The institution had stolen 1,35,466 items of electrical energy, which works out to greater than Rs 24.72 lakh, it was said.
Based on a grievance by the ability firm, a case has been registered in opposition to Ajmal Jamal Sayyad, the proprietor of the commercial unit, below related sections of the Indian Electricity, it was said.
