Norway’s girls’s seashore handball workforce was fined for rejecting bikini uniforms.
Norway’s girls’s seashore handball workforce was fined 1,500 euros on Monday after gamers opted to put on shorts as an alternative of bikini bottoms at a European championship match in Bulgaria. The European Handball Federation (EHF) stated in a press release that its disciplinary fee had handled “a case of improper clothing” because the shorts have been “not according to the Athlete Uniform Regulations defined in the IHF Beach Handball Rules of the game”, experiences ABC News.
According to International Handball Federation guidelines, girls athletes should put on bikini bottoms “with a close fit and cut on an upward angle toward the top of the leg.” On the edges, the bottoms will be not than 4 inches. Men, alternatively, can put on shorts 4 inches above the knee.
The Norwegian Handball Federation (NHF) stated on social media that it was pleased with the ladies for taking a stance towards the much-criticised and controversial rule. NHF, the truth is, has been complaining in regards to the rule since 2006.
“We at NHF stand behind you and support you. Together we will continue to fight to change the rules for clothing so that players can play in the clothes they are comfortable with,” the federation wrote.
The gamers have been fined 150 euros every by the European Handball Federation. NHF goes to pay the fines.
The girls’s handball workforce determined to put on shorts and flout the uniform rule on function, hoping to attract consideration to the difficulty and the double requirements that girls athletes face.
Norwegian participant Martine Welfler instructed New York Times, “I don’t see why we can’t play in shorts. With so much body shaming and stuff like that these days, you should be able to wear a little bit more when you play.”
