The opposition has been holding protests over the suspension concern because the Winter Session began.

The back-channel talks to resolve the continued deadlock in parliament might hit a wall, messages from the Leader of Opposition within the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge of the Congress and Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien have steered.

“All Opposition parties are united in the protest against the suspension of the 12 MPs. We have been requesting from the evening of November 29 itself that either the Chairman of the Raiya Sabha or the Leader of the House Shri Piyush Goyal call leaders of all Opposition parties for a discussion to break the stalemate,” Mr Kharge wrote in a letter to the Parliamentary Affairs Minister over an invite to 4 Opposition events.

“This reasonable request of ours has not been agreed to, further inviting only leaders of four Opposition parties instead of inviting leaders of all Opposition parties is unfair and unfortunate,” the senior Congress chief mentioned, in indicators that the federal government outreach had failed.

Earlier, Derek O’Brien of Trinamool too had indicated that the opposition has no intention of budging from its demand of the revocation of suspension of 12 MPs who had been penalized for “unruly behaviour”.

Sources mentioned on Friday, Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu had requested the opposition and the federal government to satisfy and again channel talks had been on to result in an understanding on the problem  that has stymied the Winter Session because it began on November 29.

The opposition will meet tomorrow to resolve on their stance.

Today, Mr O’Brien, who’s the Trinamool’s chief within the Rajya Sabha, tweeted:

In the third week of the Winter Session, the productiveness of Rajya Sabha hit a low of 37.60 per cent – flattening the performance of the House for the primary three weeks to 46.70 per cent. The productiveness of Rajya Sabha has been 49.70 per cent and 52.5 per cent for the primary and second weeks.
